About Us

The Pickering Youth Council (PYC) is an organization that serves as a place for Pickering youth to learn about the political process, take action on issues facing our community, and mobilize to serve the less fortunate.

The organization began in August 2024 when a local teenager interested in the political process searched for ways to make change in her community - to no avail. So she decided to start the Pickering Youth Council. She reached out to her regional councillor, Maurice Brenner, who then invited her to present at a Town Hall meeting centred on youth issues.

The presentation was a resounding success. And so the Pickering Youth Council began, with a mission is to foster leadership, social responsibility, and civic engagement among young people.
